HUNTED BY THE  DARKLING HORDE
by  Cornelius Clifford

In this, the first of Moleswind's many adventures, Cornelius Clifford takes us on a dramatic journey in the company of the Tribal Peoples of the Wild Wood; Noggles, Elves, Fungles, and, of course, the terrible and mysterious Darkling Horde!

Follow Moleswind's footsteps in the deep and haunting forest as he first discovers a fabulous magical emerald mace, narrowly outwits a monstrous ogre, only to be pursued by a host of Dark Elves. These dread riders of wild boar steeds take delight in hunting down Moleswind and his innocent friends for sport ...

Extracts from the 'Hunted by the Darkling Horde' book;

   "Deep in the heart of the Heavenmoss forest a smallish person climbed a very large beech tree. The climber was a biped; having two arms, two legs and so forth, and yet very much smaller than a human. He would stand a touch less than three feet tall from the soles of his moleskin boots to the tip of his pointy hat, if you could get him to stand still, that is! Slightly built, lithe, you might say, or even wiry. As the forest dweller carefully ascended the massive tree, a pair of very similar people watched intently from the forest floor far below."

   "The tree mountaineer had pointy ears and sharp features. He moved quickly, gracefully and with purpose, clearly an expert climber and very much at home in the sylvan glades. He wore a green doublet, yellow hose and soft moleskin boots; these had curiously long and pointed toes that curled upwards. A hunting knife, in an intricately carved wooden sheath, slapped against his thigh. From beneath his doublet tails a bright red waistcoat peeked cheekily as he swung, nimble and confident, up the tree."

   "... you must be wary of the Darkling Horde, young Moleswind, if you are unfortunate enough to meet them. Do not yield to the temptation to join them or be seduced by their tricks and lies, for they are the Dark Elves of legend."

   "A darkling moon rose, floating behind thick and gloomy banks of cloud. This could mean only one thing; that fell riders were abroad, galloping through the night-cloaked land in search of victims for their wicked games of darkness and fear."
